Triathlon Gear For The Beginner

I’ve decided to participate in a triathlon. Everyone that knows me thinks I’m crazy but are still very supportive. I have received all sorts of advice and suggestions. They continue to come up in conversation, through phone calls, in e-mails and even gifts of gear and equipment. Magazines and books have been a few of those gifts and have proven quite useful. The Post-Run Spin

For all of you runners out there who suffer from post-run dizziness, there could be a fairly simple fix or it could be an indication of a more serious condition requiring a consultation with a physician. Not only is such dizziness annoying, but it can also be a frightening experience. Often it occurs suddenly which could pose a hazard. Feelings of spinning, phantom movement, or loss of balance are all symptomatic of a “dizzy spell” after running. (more…)

The End of Food

The doom and gloomers are predicting the era of food as we know it is over. It seems that in the future we will be eating bug burgers and drinking something like soylent green when it’s time to put on the old feedbag. I’m not feeling too good about the prospect of drinking something the consistency of Metamucil three times a day until the day I die. How will life be worth living if I can’t sink my teeth into a juicy tenderloin? (more…)

Training For My First Triathlon

I’ve been thinking about doing a triathlon. As I sit and ponder this idea, I have visions of runners who are exhausted and collapse at the finish line. I see their faces twisted in a grimace of agony. I picture cyclists disappearing over a hilltop into the sunset. Swimming brings to mind a floppy hat and ice cold glasses of lemonade waiting on a table by a lounger with my towel and sun block. I’m not sure I have the right frame of mind to compete in a triathlon. Regardless, I’m determined to try it. (more…)

I think now, more and more families are discovering their own diversity. What does it mean to be a diverse family? How common is it to be a diverse family? Diversity is not just about ethnic differences. Take a careful look at your spouse and children, your children’s spouses, your children’s children. How different are all of you? Here is a checklist.
